Welcome to Streetwize School of Motoring. We are an independent Scarborough-based driving school offering top-grade instruction from an experienced Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).

The prospect of learning to drive can be daunting but we’re friendly & approachable and there’s always someone available by phone if you have any questions. The tuition is designed to allow you to work at your own pace and we give you your own records of progress so you can see how you are getting on.

We follow the Driving Standards Agency syllabus and strive to make sure you enjoy your lessons – we want you to have fun driving as much as we want you to pass your test.

After test, we can either offer further advanced training or if you haven’t driven in a while we offer a structured Refresher Course, designed to rebuild your confidence and get you out on the roads again.

With over 25 years driving experience, our chief Instructor Nigel Hooson is a treasure trove of road knowledge (and interesting stories!) He has driven articulated trucks round Europe, North Africa, as well as in the UK. He is a DIAmond Advanced Driver and Chairman of the Scarborough Driving Instructors Association.

As an Approved Driving Instructor he is required to undertake regular grading and check tests and recently passed his check, coming out with a top grade!
